And that is just fine, so people can choose to buy it on Steam or Uplay, or not at all. In this case I only prize uplay because they (still) bring their games to steam and to their own store and for the same price. But still the prices are the same in both stores if a game comes out. Normally, if you think about it, the price for a Ubisoft game would be cheaper on Uplay, or more expensive on steam because of the higher cost on steam. If you believe we had only steam, and every game on this earth would be only on steam to buy, then you are very, VERY naive, because history is proven many times that always the customer will suffer at the end. You missing the point, let me put it in a other way, so you understand. If they ♥♥♥♥ that up again with Anno 1800, I will never buy another Anno game again from Steam, I also don't want to buy it on Uplay because I don't want to install another useless launcher. This will only aggravate consumers because they'll have to deal with so freaking many launchers at once.īack to topic though, Anno 2070 has such a terrible rating on Steam, not because of the game itself, it's amazing, but the entire activation process is a pain in the a** and some simply can't get it to work, like one of my friends who wanted to play with me bought the game and couldn't figure out how to activate it until I helped him figure it out and I must say it was indeed very very confusing. You really think the publishers would just magically lower their prices because they get more split from another middleman? No, because they want to earn more money, not the same or less. The reason why Metro Exodus went over to Epic Launcher instead of Steam is solely because of Epic's better margin split, but that won't affect the retail price consumers have to pay. If you really believe that with more launchers / publishers that require you to install launchers will make the games' prices more competitive, then you are just naive. Originally posted by Not4You:Indeed best thing is no launchers at all. Just look in the past, if there is only one, sooner or later it always gets worse and that mostly for the customer. Also one of the most reasons that people don't want different launchers, is that people want to have every game (install) in the steam library, and they even don't know how much power they give steam with that. Yeah, indeed, games did exits before launcher, but then you had to install from cd, and now you only need to install a launcher to play a game, don't see any problem with that. Publishers make the launchers, and the only thing a customer can do is to buy not to buy. And when you talk about launchers, that is not a issue about what customers want. I think what most customers want is not to pay to much for the games. Steam ask a lot of money, and why they wouldn’t ask even more if there wore no other launchers, and every game would be automatedly on steam. Why you think we have different launchers in the first place. If we had only one launcher, and no more competition prices of games would go up. Indeed best thing is no launchers at all. That is already 3 launchers too many in my opinion but I require them to keep my games up to date and play them. I personally have Steam that auto runs, the Blizzard launcher that auto runs, two separate Wargamming launchers that both auto run, and the Ubi launcher that only runs when I start it. I would say there is a decent portion that only want a single launcher, Steam. Originally posted by OBXandos:Well the issue comes down to what some customers want. I'm pretty sure pirated games don't require launchers. Games existed before launchers became a thing so i am reasonably sure that they do not require them now. I will go to the specific websites for those activities. I don't care if there is this cool deal on a publishers other games, or a sale on these in game items, or some news piece about a game update. I don't want the Bethesda launcher, I don't want the Origin launcher, and I don't want the GOG launcher. Well the issue comes down to what some customers want.
